I wanted to share something with you that I heard in a class by Rabbi Moshe Arking. As we wait for the Mashiah to arrive and for all the nations to witness and proclaim that Hashem is the one and only and true G-d, this is just a reminder that even though we may not always see it, Hashem is watching and here with us, fighting our battles.
Israeli Independence Day occurred on the 5th of Iyyar 5708 (1948). If you start counting from Beresheet, the 5,708th pasuk of the Torah is “וֶהֱבִיאֲךֳ ה’ אֱלֹקֶיךָ אֶל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יָרְשׁוּ אֲבֹתֶיךָ וִירִשְׁתָּהּ וְהֵיטִבְךָ וְהִרְבְךָ מֵאֲבֹתֶיךָ” - “And the Lord your G-d will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will do you good, and multiply you above your fathers.”
Just let that sink in. Is it a coincidence that the same Hebrew year where the State of Israel was declared independent and that we shall “possess it,” that same pasuk promises exactly that in the Torah? Check yourself if you’d like.
If you’re not convinced yet, there’s another example. In 1967 there was the Six Day War between a bunch of Arab nations and Israel. By all accounts, Israel won in stunning fashion, doubling its size and significantly altering the Middle East landscape. Israel was outnumbered 2 to 1 on the battlefield and yet prevailed in simply six days.
1967, the Hebrew year 5727. The 5,727th pasuk in the Torah: “וְעָשָׂה ה’ לָהֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לְסִיחֹן וּלְעֹג מַלְכֵי הָאֱמֹרִי וּלְאַרְצָם אֲשֶׁר הִשְׁמִיד אֹתָם” - “And the Lord will do to them as He did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, whom He destroyed.”
Hashem is working for us, even when we may not see it. BeH Mashiah will arrive today.
